“THE WORD BECAME FLESH”

If you think about the scene; humility, poverty and weakness comes to mind.

A family has no resources for the circumstances, and thus, the mother had to deliver a baby in a stable.

The smell of animals, the cold at night, and the uncomfortable manger all pointed to these words: “He had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.” (Isaiah 53:2)

As we preach that this child is the Savior of the world, we understand the prophet: “Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1)

The humble birth of Jesus Christ was prophesied as a first step in his humiliation, and behind this story, we find a great teaching: the way of true exaltation.

I went up to conquer, and came down defeated.

I went up to receive, and I came down empty handed.

I went up to be honored, and came down humiliated.

I went up to succeed, and came down in despair.

If you want to win, lose.

If you want to receive, give.

If you want to rule, serve.

If you want to live, die to yourself.
