ARE YOU READY FOR THE FIRE?

The story of Daniel’s friends is amazing. They were supposed to bow down to an image in honor of the king, and, though they were the most obedient of all the slaves in Babylon, they would not break a law from their God.

The price would be death on the fire, and here is the threat, “who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”

Sometimes in life, we face situations in which we either obey God and disappoint people, or we will please people and dishonor God. Those boys had the heart in the right place, they trusted their LORD.

Their trust was not that God would deliver them, but that He could do so, and even if He didn’t, He is still worthy of obedience, and honor. They say, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter, if this is so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

Whatever you have to face, dear reader, it’s better to suffer the consequences of disappointing men than to dishonor the Lord who is the Creator, the Sustainer and the Redeemer of this world.
