04 Feb RELIGION OR CHRISTIANITY
The Parable of the Prodigal Son speaks about two different men. The older son is a religious, good behaving, and outwardly righteous young man. He had never left his father’s house, nor has he ever brought shame to the good name of the family.
The younger one, on the other hand, was selfish, spoiled, and ungrateful towards the one who had always treated him with love and compassion. He left the house, bringing shame to the father.
The father, always loving and being there for both, saw the younger son returning home. He was ashamed, embarrassed and humbled. As he approached, the father planned a feast to celebrate his repentance and return.
The older, however, never changed his behavior, never ceased to perform and outwardly obey, but, when he saw the party for the younger, he showed what was in his heart.
What are you? A religious, good-behaving, self-righteous person, or a broken sinner longing for the Father’s forgiveness? There is much more hope for the second one!
