HOW CAN YOU OVERCOME BITTERNESS?

Bitterness is contagious. It spreads around, and instead of helping your situation, it does the opposite.

Naomi came back from a foreign land displaying bitterness because she was poor and needy, and Ruth could have been bitten with the same sentiment, however, she had a great antidote to overcome the situation.

While Naomi stayed home complaining and cursing her own name, Ruth, a stranger and a newcomer to the faith decided to go out and work hard, trying to change things around her. So she went and, providentially, entered a field of a man that would change her life forever.

Boaz was used by God to redeem Ruth and Naomi, but it only happened, in the providence of God, because instead of mourning and complaining, Ruth went after the blessings of the God of Israel.

Maybe you are facing hardships in your own life and the easiest thing to do is blame the world instead of facing the problem and looking for the help of God to overcome any situation.

The greatest example, however, isn’t Ruth, but someone who came long after her. Jesus Christ was facing betrayal and the bitterest momentum in the face of the earth. He said, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death.” (Mark 14:34); but instead of just mumbling, he prayed to God and told the other men, “Rise, let us be going.” (Mark 14:42).

My friend, you can do the same. In the same way that Ruth’s story was completely changed for the better, only in Christ and with hard work can you have the same hope and overcome any bitterness that may be in your way.
