LOOKING UP TO THE SKIES

Looking up is a recurrent subject in the Bible. Abraham was told to look up and number the stars as an illustration of God’s mercy and covenant.

The Psalmist told us to look up to the mountains, only to realize that our help comes from the Lord, Creator of heaven and earth.

The Magi were watching the star to see the little King in Bethlehem.

But it is in Jesus’s ascension, while the disciples were looking up to see their friend go away, that they heard this explanation, “why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11).

What they heard back then is still true today. Let us be His witnesses, for He is coming back to take us home! Do you have this expectation?
